REMEMBERING DORIS ROBERTS AND "HESTER STREET", ONE FOR THE BUCKET LIST

Remembering actress Doris Roberts who passed away this date in 2016; read more here.

While many of you will always think of Roberts her as the meddling mother Marie Barone on Everybody Loves Raymond, your editor remembers her best from Hester Street,.

This 1975 film based on Abraham Cahan's 1896 novella Yekl: A Tale of the New York Ghetto. It also starred Steven Keats and Doris Roberts in lead roles, while Carol Kane was nominated for an Academy Award.  Hester Street was  added to the National Film Registry at the Library of Congress. The acting is superb overall but Roberts is amazing. it should go on your "must-see" bucket list.
