FOR THE BUCKET LIST: THE GREAT ESCAPE, 1963

And now another ovie for your bucket list----from 1963, THE GREAT ESCAPE

An epic adventure and suspense war film starring Steve McQueen, James Garner and Richard Attenborough -- and featuring James Donald, Charles Bronson, Donald Pleasence, James Coburn, Hannes Messemer, David McCallum, etal.

The film is based on Paul Brickhill's 1950 non-fiction book of the same name, a firsthand account of the mass escape by British Commonwealth prisoners of war from German POW camp Stalag Luft III in Sagan (now Żagań, Poland), in the Nazi Germany province of Lower Silesia. The film depicts a heavily fictionalized version of the escape, with numerous compromises for its commercial appeal, such as focusing more on American involvement in the escape.......it is now considered a classic.  The motorcycle chase and jump scene  is also considered one of the best stunts ever performed.

There's some solid acting all around---James Garner is wonderful as the Scrounger---while Coburn and Bronson lend strong support to the overall feel of the film.   YOU CAN READ MORE ABOUT IT HERE.
