ANOTHER FILM FOR THE BUCKET LIST: NEW FROM EFSP: IL GATTOPARDO/THE LEOPARD 1963

Last Sunday, Luchino Visconti's Il Gattopardo/The Leopard (1963) was broadcast on the Italian network La7 and attracted almost one million (973,000) viewers. A decidedly good result and above the network's average when it programs films in prime time and also above the average for a couple of well-known Italian talk shows. New generations are discovering Visconti's masterpiece! An excellent reason to repeat our post on Il Gattopardo. 

Il Gattopardo/The Leopard (1963) is based on Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa's 1958 bestseller 'Il Gattopardo' about an aristocratic Sicilian family's adjustment to a changing way of life during the Risorgimento. After the premiere, the long epic received mixed reviews but it is now seen as one of the greatest classics of Italian cinema.
