VINTAGE JAYLINE TINPLATE BUILDING, SUBURBAN STATION http://www.toyconnect.blogspot.com/2012/12/jayline-no-201-suburban-station.html
It was our
privilege to shoot and scan some pages of a 1930's movie star scrapbook belonging
to a local vintage Hollywood morabilia collector here in the village. We've had to
do heavy duty restoration in some cases, but with classics like these,
we're sure you'll agree it was worth it--especially the MGM two page mega-ad; click on the photos below.

MORE EVERYTHING CROTON'S FABULOUS VINTAGE WEBSITES, FINDS, ETC.
In the meantime, here are some great Christmas ads from his collection--circa 1936 and 1937. We especially love the ad for the 1936 "Radio Lamp"--and for only a dollar...which was probably a tidy sum in '36.
And the Santa Claus ad for RJ Reynolds Tobacco.
We'll take a dozen. Also included below is a scan from a matted Christmas image we bought at The Cornelia Cotton Gallery some years ago--circa 1950's (111 Grand St, Croton on Hudson, NY)--mainly for the train! And a great 1934 Maybelline ad from Lisa. Click on the photos!

MORE FABULOUS VINTAGE WEBSITES, FINDS, ETC. FROM EVERYTHING CROTON
And now an item from the vintage Christmas novelty department:
An old toy/”musical novelty” with a Christmas theme: ‘CHRISTMAS EVE CAPERS’—made by Glolite--wind it up, the children “sneak” down the stairs while Santa Claus descends from the chimney; once “spotted”, Santa scoots back up the chimney—ditto for the kids—to repeat the process over and over again all powered by the music box mechanism. See the 1949 ad below.

Followed by an incredible
restoration by our friend CF; click on the photos below--in her case, the Santa and children were missing—so
she made copies. We were also both missing the deer head over the fireplace—she
made one for hers!

2012, SOME PHOTOS FROM TODAY'S LAS POSADAS AT HOLY NAME OF MARY
Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.
Today was the conclusion of Las Posadas, a tradition in which the Holy Family’s search for a room at the inn is re-enacted for several days by members of Holy Name of Mary Spanish Ministry. It culminates in songs and a reception of ethnic food, pinatas, and Santa Claus in the Parish Meeting Rooms. We stopped by there today to join in the fun (and we had a very good time watching Santa do the Macarena!) Click on the photos below.
