Scam Emails Reported in the Village
Posted on: October 18, 2021 - 11:57am

A new scam is being conducted by persons claiming to offer rent and house relief programs in connection with the Village. These scams have begun to be reported in the Village of Croton-on-Hudson, so please be cautious whenever you are asked for personal information. Scam artists tend to prey on the public when they feel they are at the most vulnerable, such as during the holiday season. For this reason, it is advised that individuals stay especially vigilant over the next few months.

If you receive a phone call or email that seems suspicious, or someone comes to your door that is not familiar to you, please call the Police Department non-emergency line at 914-271-5177. If it is an emergency situation, dial 911. Remember to never give out any personal information, or allow someone into your home if you are not sure of their authority to ask or do so.

In addition, scammers are always trying to find new and intricate ways to steal your money. Be sure to comb through your transactions from time to time on the lookout for unusual purchases, especially if you receive one of these emails.
