#4: OUR NEW SERIES - THE CROTON PHOTOGRAPHER

FAMOUS PHOTOGRAPHER WILLIAM E.SMITH A.K.A. W. EUGENE SMITH--lived in Croton in the late 1950's....he was an American photojournalist and has been described as "perhaps the single most important American photographer in the development of the editorial photo essay."[2] His major photo essays include World War II photographs, the dedication of an American country doctor and a nurse midwife, the clinic of Albert Schweitzer in French Equatorial Africa, the city of Pittsburgh, etc.

We're fast becoming fans of photographer Lucienne Chevert, thanks to our friends at European Film Star Postcards.

Chevert (1911-1982) portrayed dozens of French stars of the post-war period. She was an associate of the famous French photographer Sam LĂ©vin.
