MORE FABULOUS VINTAGE WEBSITES, FINDS, ETC. FROM EVERYTHING CROTON

AS ALWAYS, some wonderful new finds, oldies but goodies, special requests an more. Click on the photos and links.

Some years back, our Flickr Friend File Photo uploaded pages from the 1955 Howdy Doody Merchandise Catalog. For those of us who build putz houses and are fans of tinplate--vintage, faux or otherwise--here's Howdy Doody's General store. To see more of the 1955 Catalog, visit bit.ly/1OFm1dd

It's followed by a special request from a reader who discovered a "vintage and battered heavy foiled paper angel" in a tag sale.  From the photo you provided, it appears to be German and constructed of 'Rauschgoldengel Doppelfolie' foil paper that was made in Western Germany for the production of their famous Nuremberg Christmas angels.

Blumchen is still making it today-- this double-sided metallic paper is bright and shiny with vivid colors. YOU CAN SEE MORE IN the PHOTO TO THE RIGHT and by clicking here.  Your editor was gifted a few sheets of this foil paper----it's very high quality and folds with sharp creases. Extremely tactile and interesting.....Might be something the putz house makers would find useful to work with.

AND...FOR FANS OF WESTERN LORE, TRUE TALES AND AMAZING LEGENDS, THERE'S A SPECIAL EDITION LIFE MAGAZINE  IN THE CHECK-OUT AISLE OF CROTON SHOPRITE. In your editor's opinion, this is one of their best.

But then at Everything Croton....we love the Western genre, foreign or domestic.  Here's some additional links you may enjoy:

  1. Love the Howdy Doody "General Store." From an era when the West was romanticized and every movie or TV western featured a general store. I would be careful to stock a good supply of hickory axe handles in mine, though. Because there's nothing like a nice piece of hickory.
