BETTY WHITE HAS DIED

Betty White, the trailblazing television star whose more than eight-decade career saw her go from unforgettable roles on “The Golden Girls” and “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” to becoming a cultural icon in her 80s and 90s, has died less than three weeks before her 100th birthday.

Her agent and close friend Jeff Witjas later confirmed the news to People magazine.

THE CDC'S LATEST SETBACKS---OH AND ABOUT THE RELIABILITY OF THOSE TESTS........

Inconsistencies from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and director Rochelle Walensky have continued as the Omicron wave sweeps across the U.S.

Walensky told the public in a Good Morning America interview Wednesday that PCR tests for COVID-19 can stay positive for up to 12 weeks after infection. For that reason, Walensky said, a negative PCR test would not be needed to leave quarantine or isolation under new CDC guidelines. 

“So we would have people in isolation for a very long time if we were relying on PCRs,” Walensky told GMA.......Rapid antigen tests aren’t good indicators of whether someone is actually contagious with COVID-19, Walensky said. “We know it performs really well during that period where you’re initially infected, but the FDA has not at all looked at whether … your positive antigen really does correlate with whether you’re transmissible or not.”

Nearly two years into the pandemic, this is the first time Walensky has told Americans that they could be testing positive on PCR tests due to a COVID-19 infection that dissipated weeks ago, or that someone could test negative on a rapid test and still be contagious. We recently watched this again---top notch performance by all and especially the late Christopher Plummer.  Gregory Peck is also quite stellar, the supporting cast is wonderful, and the music is by Ennio Morricone.

For those who don't know: The Scarlet and the Black is a 1983 American made-for-television historical war drama film directed by Jerry London.  Based on J. P. Gallagher's book The Scarlet Pimpernel of the Vatican (published in 1967), the film tells the story of Monsignor Hugh O'Flaherty, a real-life Irish Catholic priest who saved thousands of Jews and escaped Allied POWs in Rome., CBS distributed more than 500,000 scripts of The Scarlet and the Black to students in elementary and high schools throughout the country, to be read aloud in class to stimulate student interest in English and history. She was one of the few child performers whose transition to adulthood was successfully accomplished. But, as years went by, she grew dissatisfied with the 'Deanna Durbin' image Hollywood had created and by the increasingly poor material which was offered to her, especially at the end of her career. She then choose to retire and never reconsidered her decision.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio's last day in office is New Years Eve. What he has done to the world's greatest city is incalculable: he has been an unmitigated disaster.

 

He is often compared to Mayor David Dinkins, but the comparison is unfair. While Dinkins did great damage, which was undone by Rudy Giuliani, he was merely incompetent. De Blasio's war on New York City was deliberate, a clear example of what happens when a Marxist takes over.

 

De Blasio's life has been built on a series of lies. He was born Warren Wilhelm Jr. in 1961. When he graduated from New York University in 1983, he changed his name to Warren de Blasio-Wilhelm. In 2002, he changed his name again, settling on Bill de Blasio. More important, he never stops bragging how he is the champion of the poor, yet when he ran for mayor in 2013, he accepted $50,000 from a group of slumlords.

 

When the New York Times nailed him for his allegiance to "democratic socialism" (which is an oxymoron), he said he never used those words. When shown the proof that he had, he answered, "It doesn't matter.".........Marxists hate religion, especially Catholicism.   READ MORE HERE

The face of the White House coronavirus task force under former President Trump, Fauci will have made $2.5 million in salary from 2019 until 2024 if he stays on as President Joe Biden’s chief medical adviser, the outlet reported.  nd that doesn’t even account for a possible raise he may get during that period.

Between 2010 and 2019, the top US infectious diseases expert made $3.6 million in salary, according to the news outlet, which cited data collected by OpenTheBooks.com through Freedom of Information Act requests.

Since 2014, his pay increased from $335,000 to the current $417,608, which is $17,608 higher than the presidential salary, Forbes reported.

Should kids have to wear masks at school? And, if so, for how long?

Eighteen states require kids—in some cases as young as age 2—to mask all day in class, and nine states have banned school districts from requiring masks.

In July, Republican Governor Ron DeSantis issued an executive order banning mask mandates in Florida school districts, writing that "a right to normal education is imperative to the growth and development of our children and adolescents." DeSantis was influenced by parents like Tina Descovich, a former member of Florida's Brevard County School Board and co-founder of Moms for Liberty, which has 160 chapters and more than 70,000 members nationwide.

"We support parental choice in masking, always," Descovich tells Reason. "We believe a parent has the ultimate authority…the fundamental right to guide and direct the upbringing, the medical care and the education of their children."

Descovich says mask requirements have driven parental engagement to a level that she's never seen before, and that many have come to her with photos of their kids' faces with MRSA and infantigo, which are types of staph infections. Federal Judge In NJ Orders Duo To Stop Selling Supposed COVID 'Cure'

UPDATE: A federal judge has issued a final order to a retired New Jersey lawyer and formerly licensed psychiatrist from Westchester to stop selling unapproved and misbranded drugs advertised as a cure for COVID-19.

"EQUITY" ISSUES IN THE NEWS AGAIN: MINNESOTA GIVES NON-WHITE PATIENTS PREFERENTIAL ACCESS TO LIFE SAVING COVID TREATMENT

Minnesota says healthcare providers should provide non-white patients with preferential access to monoclonal antibodies (mAbs). Who died this date in 1974....Jack Benny (born Benjamin Kubelsky; February 14, 1894 – December 26, 1974) was an American comedian, vaudevillian, radio, television and film actor, and violinist. Recognized as a leading American entertainer of the 20th century, Benny portrayed his character as a miser, playing his violin badly. In character, he would claim to be 39 years of age, regardless of his actual age.
