Irene C. Kearney - Irene C. Kearney, 91, died on  Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Phelps Hospital, Sleepy Hollow, due to pneumonia that ensued from a recent stroke. She was born at St. Catherine’s Hospital in Brooklyn to John Guy and Ellen Finnegan and grew up in nearby Greenpoint.

On June 17, 1950, Irene married James A. Kearney who preceded her in death on October 13, 2001.

Irene was a member of Holy Name of Mary Parish and her Catholic faith was an important aspect of her life.

Irene was a social and gracious host who enjoyed cooking and entertaining. You knew you were on the “A-list” if she served you her lasagna or pork chops.

She and Jim settled on Wolf Road in the “Riverbank” neighborhood of Croton-on-Hudson where many lifelong friendships were forged. Irene was the last original homeowner on the block.

Other surviving relations include her sister, Beatrice Sheehy, her cousin, Margaret Bauer, and many nieces and nephews.

“To you, Irene Catherine Kearney, a mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and aunt, we will keep you alive in our hearts and relish the many wonderful precious memories. Goodnight Irene, we will see you in our dreams.”
