MORE FABULOUS VINTAGE WEBSITES, FINDS, ETC. FROM EVERYTHING CROTON

So much to show and tell you about....as always, click on the photos and links.

First up--and a repeat request: A great cover from the December 1952 Woman's Day Magazine courtesy of our Flickr friend File Photo; see select scans from the magazine at http://bit.ly/21f6cUi

That's followed by one of our favorite vintage Santa's. We always suspected he was German but had nothing definitive; then, after well over a decade, we discovered that he was marked after all--made in Western Germany--in the tiniest letters near his boots--which, without the glasses, we had always assumed was DIRT! Mystery solved! His original miniature feather tree had long ago disintegrated, necessitating a replacement silver tree cake pick.

Note that he is carrying a bag of Christmas oranges...which reminded your editor of an oldie but goodie...REMEMBERING: CANDY BOXES & ORANGES: Those of you who grew up with these things may think that it's silly to commemorate something so ubiquitous as Christmas candy boxes and oranges being given out at Christmas. But, like many other North American Christmas traditions, it is worth documenting now in case it goes the way of the putz and the C-6 light bulb. READ MORE HERE

He's followed by an oldie but goodie -- one of our favorite Christmas ads featuring...Jim Backus...Baby-boomers will remember him best as Mr. Howell on Gilligan's Island. It's from 1970. And finally, from back in 2013, one of our favorite putz houses from Howard Lamey. Again, click on the photos and enjoy.

COURTESY OF THE FAMILY GARDEN TRAINS FB PAGE, DID YOU KNOW THAT...
If you have old Bachmann Big Hauler 10-wheelers in bad condition laying around, you should know that Bachmann is closing out the parts for them at a deep discount. You can replace the entire chassis for your loco with an "Annie" chassis for $80. Yes, your whole train probably only cost that, but that was part of the problem.

Standard Chassis replacements are also available for a few dollars less. Or you could replace your Big Hauler shell with an Annie shell to get that extra detail.

These are flying of the shelves, and when they're gone, they won't be available again.   HERE'S THE LINK TO THE STORE.

TINY UNFINISHED SANTA CLAUS FIGURES 2 INCH, TIM HOLTZ; these really look nice----and are still available-----MORE HERE
