MORE FABULOUS VINTAGE WEBSITES, FINDS, ETC. FROM EVERYTHING CROTON

As always, some wonderful finds, oldies but goodies too, and more....click on the photos and links.

First up, a close-up shot from Linda's outstanding 2014 Dept. 56 North Pole Christmas village--check out the album--a work in progress--here

Your editor was stunned to see that some stores are slowly bringing out the Halloween decor---but we just couldn't get upset---especially since there were some really clever things out there.  Stay tuned but for now....

Hallmark's line of PAPER WONDER Halloween fold-out/pop-up cards have arrived at the local CVS.  They're very well made---and reminiscent of the vintage and antique pop-up cards and books that were so popular in Victorian times.

Of course, the pop-up haunted house is the favorite so far.

If you'd like to try making a pop-up of your own, check out this pop-up house post from PAPERGLITTERGLUE HERE.

And finally, one of our favorite photos of bandleader Glenn Miller circa 1942 (full name Alton Glenn Miller)...and a sad story indeed. While he was traveling to entertain U.S. troops in France during WWII, Miller's aircraft disappeared in bad weather over the English Channel. You can read more about this great music icon here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenn_Miller

Again, click on the photos and links.

Really worth looking at again; a vintage black and white Christmas photo from the days before photoshop; great vintage deer and sleigh too; click here

Another fabulous putz find--German---from the Golden Glow of Christmas Past 2019 Convention; see it here.

  1. A few years back on EBAY there was a pop-up card featuring the Croton Dam. It wasn't very large. Perhaps 5X7. I thought about buying it but hesitated and the moment was lost. To this day, I have never seen one like it.
