CROTON--1897: DECREPIT TOMBSTONES AND MORE...

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

With Asbury Methodist's "Historic Sunday" on tap for September 1st at the Bethel Chapel/Cemetery (see and read more about that here), one of the Everything Croton elves began to wonder about other cemeteries that were once--or still--in the village.  She came up with this little gem from 1897 and an Abilene, Kansas newspaper entitled DECREPIT TOMBSTONES...click on the images below and enjoy.

    You can see where the cemetery was, roughly under what is now Shoprite. The Van Cortlandts sold the property and the graves were relocated http://begalled18.rssing.com/chan-9929485/all_p2.html
