8/7, 8/8, 8/9, 8/10 CROTON RIVER ISSUES, UPDATED NEWS

Very early morning on the river
--Residents in the Croton River, Mayo's/Silver Lake/Paradise Island/Black Rock areas report increased and coordinated law enforcement presence in the past week.

This coordinated enforcement seems to be helping in some places more than others.  Area residents have nevertheless expressed gratitude.

--As of approximately a week ago, there's a big flashing neon "illegally parked cars will be towed" sign on Quaker Bridge Rd. West at the access point to the Aqueduct.  Your editor has received additional reports that for pretty much every day this week, some combination of NYS police, NYS DEC vehicles, County police, Cortlandt DPW trucks, were on duty there---for which again, area residents have expressed gratitude.

--Much more activity this past week at Black Rock Park, which has been attributed to people turned away or evicted from other spots looking for river access.

--It is unknown at this time if the village will restrict Croton River access here by disallowing non-resident parking in the affected areas.

--More and more village residents posting online commentary that they no longer use village recreational amenities such as Mayo's and Silver Lake, to name just two.

--It is unknown at this time which village resident-only(SCHOOL DISTRICT INCLUDED) parks will remain resident/SCHOOL DISTRICT-only.  Opening Silver Lake to non-residents appears to now be off the table.

--Residents report kayakers removing huge bags of trash from the shores especially in the vicinity of Paradise Island.

--UPDATED: LOTS OF ADDITIONAL NEW WARNING BI-LINGUAL SIGNAGE
