AN UPDATE ON THE CONIFER AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROJECT IN CHAPPAQUA: STALLED BY SHODDY INFRASTRUCTURE WORK

Over the last few years, there has been quite a bit of commentary by assorted officials about how wonderful it was that "even Chappaqua" had embraced the inherent "fairness" of affordable housing. The development most often cited was this one.  Here's an update on the Conifer Realty project from Lohud's Tax Watch--and David McKay Wilson.

Shoddy work by a Westchester County contractor has led to considerable construction delays at Chappaqua Station, one of Westchester’s most expensive affordable housing complexes.

The problems were detailed in a slew of memos exchanged between the developer, Conifer LLC, of Rochester, and Westchester County, according to documents obtained by Tax Watch. Public subsidies of $600,000 per one- and two-bedroom units will make the project’s 28 units affordable for a single person earning up to $50,000 a year or a family of four earning up to $72,200.
