FROM THE EVERYTHING CROTON MAILBOX, VINTAGE CROTON QUESTION, SIGN ISSUES AND VILLAGE CODES, QUESTIONS ABOUT CHARLES J. COOK POOL

--A reader is seeking info on the fire at the "original" Croton Diner way back in the (late 60's??), early 1970's---that destroyed the old building.  If anyone has any articles, please forward.  Thank you.

--Reports are coming in that the village is sending code enforcement against multiple residents for sign violations. This appears to be the result of public discussion about an anticipated federal lawsuit resulting from the village trying to take down a political flag.

In order for the village to win such a lawsuit, it will have to show not only that the village code is neutral on its face, but also is neutral in its application by the village. Residents who get violation notices from the village should consult with an attorney.

There is also a lengthy letter in this week's Gazette about which flags are legal under the village code and which flags are illegal. The letter is also posted here.

Residents who have additional questions should direct them to village staff/officials.

--To the reader looking for more info on the Charles J. Cook Pool, this is a Town of Cortlandt pool NOT a village pool; general information, TOWN i.d. requirements, etc. can be found at https://www.townofcortlandt.com/cn/webpage.cfm?tpid=16143
