---Received the very sad news that the beautiful church of OUR LADY OF MERCY in Forest Hills was the subject of vandalism overnight, specifically the destruction of two statues: one of the Blessed Mother and one of St. Therese the Little Flower, which had been displayed outside the church since it opened in 1937. --Portland Protesters Tore Down Statues of Presidents. New Rules May Keep Them Mothballed. The statues have remained in city storage since they were toppled. All three could run afoul of the new standards RACC has adopted. Last summer and fall, protesters toppled Portland statues depicting three U.S. presidents: George Washington, Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt.

Last month, local authorities quietly adopted a policy that could ensure the statues stay down. #1--The Internal Revenue Service has reversed its decision to deny a Texas-based Christian nonprofit group tax exempt status, according to the Washington Examiner.
