As always, some wonderful new finds, special requests, oldies but goodies and more. Click on the photos and links.
First up, a fabulous promo ad for the 1947 film Dark Passage starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall.
It's
followed by a page of vintage Christmas gift tags--just love the charm
and innocence of the illustrations--courtesy of Joanne O. Click on the
photos. We especially love the one with the "putz house" in the glass
container. And then one of our favorite repro candy putz house
containers from Howard Lamey--and an oldie but goodie.
And finally, this week's special at Blumchen, paper machine Santa boots made in Germany. While supplies last---see more here. Again, click on the photos and links.
A wonderful Christmas village putz display in a hardware store window; there's a large German
putz house in the foreground. SEE THE VIDEO HERE.
Blumchen still has some really outstanding "classic, old world" nativity
scenes--terribly pricey--but some VERY nice pieces--made in Germany by
Marolin--designed by Julius Weigelt in 1937-1938; click on the link http://bit.ly/13w9Ujg

Fab article by Christmas Light Enthusiast and Aficionado (!) Jeff Carter---click on the photo to read all about....
Frederick
Feiker could be considered the father of the National Christmas Tree.
As an assistant to Commerce Secretary, Herbert Hoover, he was
instrumental in convincing President Coolidge in 1923 to light a tree
for Christmas. It was to encourage others to do the same and help the
then growing national electric grid. To read more about the history of
the National Christmas Tree, check out this article: www.scribd.com/document/439769422/A-Hart-of-Ligh
