TOM GILL & THE LONE RANGER, THE CROTON CONNECTION

Welcome to Everything Croton--a collection of all things Croton, our history, our homes, our issues, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

THE LONE RANGER was a familiar character in our house...from toys to television to comics to radio---he was slightly below Superman but not by very much.

So it was "thrilling"---yes, the pun is intended--to discover that Tom Gill, the artist who  drew the Lone Ranger adventure comic books that entertained millions of youngsters from 1948 to the mid-1960s, had been a Croton resident (June 3, 1913 – October 17, 2005). He also drew the Bonanza and Hi-Yo Silver comic books.

Of course, we had to pick up a copy of......

The MISADVENTURES OF A ROVING CARTOONIST--The Lone Ranger's Secret Sidekick--by Tom Gill with Tim Lasiuta. Let it suffice to say that the book is highly recommended. You can find it on Amazon. Read more about Gill here and here.
