THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN TO OUR ALL VOLUNTEER CROTON FIRE DEPARTMENT--NIGHT TRAINING AT THE VAN WYCK APARTMENTS

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN TO OUR ALL VOLUNTEER CROTON FIRE DEPARTMENT--NIGHT TRAINING AT THE VAN WYCK APARTMENTS

PARTNERING WITH SOME MEMBERS FROM THE  MILLWOOD AND VERPLANCK Last night - after a busy day of responding to four emergency calls - 30 of our volunteers partnered with some members of the Millwood & Verplanck Fire Departments to review the Van Wyck Gardens Apartment building on Grand Street.

This building, built about a century ago, presents unique construction as well as limited access for fire department aerial devices. Because of this, smaller apparatus such as the Millwood & Verplanck units are part of our initial response plans for reported fires at this location.

Members walked through the 5-story front/7-story rear building, learned about the egress points, fire alarms, utility rooms and layout of the building. Following this, the 3 Ladder Trucks there experimented with placement options in the event of a fire.

Our thanks to the owners, property managers and tenants for allowing us to conduct this important training, and to the almost 50 volunteers between Croton, Millwood & Verplanck that attended.
