Was fortunate enough to find an original copy of GEORGE SAND THE SEARCH FOR LOVE at a local tag sale.  It's by one of Croton's (actually "Harmon's) most notable residents--and suffragette--MARIE JENNEY HOWE.

But back to the book on George Sand, let it suffice to say that it did not disappoint.  It's considered a culturally important work....with good reason.
