As many of you know, Alexander Calder was one of the village most notable residents....but did you know there was also....CALDER JEWELRY...Check out this book by Alexander S.C. Bower. YOWZER---THE PRICE ON AMAZON.

And in case you did not know it...VIA The Croton Historical Society--According to the Calder Foundation website, the Calder family moved to Croton in the winter of 1909 and Alexander Calder attended public school here. They probably rented the home from the Stevensons. Speaking of the Stevenson family--and in particular James Stevenson--the latest edition of THE SPRING 2021 NEWSLETTER--THE CROTON HISTORIAN--has a fab article on the famed editor, award-winning book author and illustrator.

As many of you know, GLORIA SWANSON was one of the village's most notable residents.

We stumbled upon a fab photo of Swanson by the famous photographer James Mitchell; it's quintessential Swanson later in life.

As many of you, novelist William Gaddis was a village resident in the 1960's. Your editor finally got around to finishing his first book, THE RECOGNITIONS.  It's not an easy read but is worth the trip and highly recommended.

For those who don't know,....William Thomas Gaddis, Jr. (December 29, 1922 – December 16, 1998) was an American novelist. The first and longest of his five novels, The Recognitions, was named one of TIME magazine's 100 best novels from 1923 to 2005 and two others, J R and A Frolic of His Own, won the annual U.S. National Book Award for Fiction.  Gaddis is widely considered one of the first and most important American postmodern writers.  READ MORE ABOUT HIM HERE.
