EVERYTHING CROTON remembers World Turtle day!

The purpose of World Turtle Day, May 23, sponsored yearly since 2000 by American Tortoise Rescue, is to bring attention to, and increase knowledge of and respect for, turtles and tortoises, and encourage human action to help them survive and thrive.  Read more here.

AND BE ALERT--NYSDEC ADVISES PEOPLE TO BE ALERT--TURTLES CROSSING ROADWAYS--DEC Urges New York Drivers to 'Give Turtles a Brake'--In May and June, Motorists Should be on the Lookout for Turtles Crossing the Road to Nest...New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Basil Seggos today reminded New Yorkers that turtles are on the move in the months of May and June, and asked drivers to "give turtles a brake." In New York, thousands of turtles are killed each year when struck by vehicles while migrating to nesting areas.
