First up, a pair of large--and new--putz churches we've spoken about before. What they lack in architectural detail, they more than make up for with color and sparkle--and the artful way the scene is arranged--thanks Matthew for allowing us to share.  That's followed by some scans from our very own 1966 Western Auto Catalog. Here's a neat little site dedicated to HOJO--Howard Johnson--history:   

The year was 1925, the financial health of the nation was sound.  Economists talked about "an era of prosperity" and the future seemed nothing but bright.  

However, the outlook for 27 year-old Howard Deering Johnson was not so bright.   Read more here.

Another amazing piece of tinplate from Toys and Stuff: the 1930s Marx Gas Service Station. Very cool! This is one of the best vintage Marx pieces ever and just screams "putz-ability": http://bit.ly/1NQhgxL
