EVERYTHING CROTON'S ALL THINGS COOKERY, KITCHEN & TABLE #7, A MISCELLANEOUS POTPOURRI OF CULINARY FUN

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

Announcing ALL THINGS COOKERY, KITCHEN & TABLE #7...a new series here at the blog for all you cooking enthusiasts out there---recipes, tips, local shopping, interesting links....we'll keep it light and fun...click on the photos and links.

This post is a potpourri of recipes, recent finds, tips from our readers and more.

First up, we've become big fans of LA FEDE HOT SANDWICH SPREAD.

Use it instead of spicy mustard on your favorite sausage, hot dog or sandwich.  It is very flavorful.

We found ours at APPLE FARM.

And speaking of sausage---and also available at APPLE FARM--we just love Fra'mani Andouille Sausage, without a doubt the best Andouille we have had to date.

AND FOR THE VEGETARIANS --- one of the best pasta dishes we have ever had - GEMELLI AL COGNAC--thanks Carolyn.....

It comes from THE CLASSIC PASTA COOKBOOK BY GUILIANO HAZAN.  AVAILABLE ON AMAZON HERE

We've become big fans of evaporated milk, a kitchen staple that fell out of favor for a number of years.

But it is without a doubt, one of the most versatile products around... Check out 40 Reasons Why You Should Have a Can of Evaporated Milk in the Cupboard from TASTE OF HOME AT https://www.tasteofhome.com/collection/recipes-using-evaporated-milk/

And lest we forget, while we generally prefer artisan Chorizo, the Goya brand is the very best commercial one we have tried to date.  Readily available at Super Foodtown of Croton and Croton ShopRite.

Here are two recipes (below) that the Elves and your editor have tried---and loved!  We've also signed up for the Goya recipe, coupons, specials, etc. newsletter! JOIN THE GOYA KITCHEN/LA COCINA GOYA TODAY HERE

And just for fun, from the 1927 PHOTOPLAYS COOK BOOK, here's a CREAMED FUDGE recipe attributed to  Croton's own GLORIA SWANSON!  One of the Everything  Croton Elves promises to give this one a try. We'll let you know how it turns out!

  1. Thanks for the chorizo croquettes recipe. We had these at a "quarantine dinner" for a friend and loved them. Turns out this is the same recipe they used. They're on the agenda for this week.

  2. Best chorizo believe it or not that I ever had came LaMonica's Salumeria. It's now the Frank & Joe's Harmon Deli. But the Goya brand is a very close second. Thanks for the reminder. That stuff is great broken up and added to a casserole or an omelot with pepper
