REMEMBERING SHARI LEWIS AND THAT CROTON CONNECTION

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton -- our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship -- in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

REMEMBERING SHARI LEWIS AND THAT CROTON CONNECTION

On August 2, 1998, American ventriloquist, puppeteer, children's entertainer, comedian, and television show host--Shari Lewis---died. She was best known as the original puppeteer of the sock puppet Lamb Chop, first appearing on Captain Kangaroo in March 1956 and then Hi Mom, a local morning television show that aired on WRCA-TV (now WNBC-TV) in New York City.  Click on the photo to see a vintage Shari Lewis board game. YOU CAN READ MORE HERE.....

And as for that Croton Connection---via the late Ethel Stein.....One of Stein's puppets--LAMB CHOP--would become famous through Lewis and her television show." You can read more about Stein HERE.
