EVERYTHING CROTON'S ALL THINGS COOKERY, KITCHEN & TABLE #8, ANOTHER MISCELLANEOUS POTPOURRI OF CULINARY FUN, PRODUCT TESTING & MORE

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

Announcing ALL THINGS COOKERY, KITCHEN & TABLE #8...a new series here at the blog for all you cooking enthusiasts out there---recipes, tips, local shopping, interesting links....we'll keep it light and joyful...click on the photos and links.  This post is another miscellaneous potpourri of culinary fun and some product testing....click on the photos and links.

Oh and a few summer pretties for your table top too. Check out the video from MELITA'S HORE FURNISHINGS HERE.

Speaking of product testing........we just love MUIR GLEN ORGANIC FIRE-ROASTED DICED TOMATOES....yes, the fire-roasting really makes a difference.   Your tomato based recipes will really pop with the addition of that added fire-roasted taste......You'll find it at SUPER FOODTOWN, APPLE FARM and online at assorted sites.

Squash season is slowly upon us........and that means........soup!

We tried this Butternut Squash and Apple Soup the other night---the addition of the ginger really makes the difference....

We also added a dollop of sour cream and grated green apple when serving---that's optional but we loved it.

Speaking of squash, we love this Acorn Squash recipe---using the microwave---FROM THE COOKING MOM site.

And check out this comforting simple PUMPKIN SOUP FROM GOYA HERE.

THE TOMATOES ARE COMING FAST AND FURIOUS NOW: CHECK OUT 15 OF THE BEST TOMATO SALAD RECIPES HERE

We've become big fans of NORTHSIDE BAKERY PUMPKIN SEED BREAD; makes amazing French Toast---even better grilled cheese---dense, slightly sweet, hearty and good with just about anything.

FIND IT AT APPLE FARM.

Remember the fabulous hot potato salad at ZUM ZUM?  For those who don't,  Zum Zum was a restaurant chain in New York City in the 1960s to the 1980s that served German cuisine.  We've located a recipe that is very close!  It's from Jacques Pepin here!
