Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

A LETTER FROM LEONARD AMICOLA IN THIS WEEK'S GAZETTE NOTING THE SEPTEMBER 2, 1945 FORMAL SURRENDER OF JAPAN ENDING WWII.

To the editor:

On September 2, 1945 onboard the USS Missouri, the formal surrender of Japanese forces marked the end of World War II. During that war, more than 12 million Americans fought around the world and 407,316 made the ultimate sacrifice. As we mark the 75th anniversary, let us remember all of those who defeated the forces of fascism and preserved the freedom which we have today.

--Leonard Amicola, Croton-on-Hudson
