SERVICE INFO & OBITUARY FOR RUSSELL D. SCHULZE

Russell D. Schulze, 60, passed away peacefully at his home in Croton-on-Hudson, NY on March 12, 2025. He was born on February 6, 1965, to Ruth Ann (Beeson) and Theodore Schulze.

Russ, also known to many as Rusty,, was a lifelong resident of Croton-on-Hudson. A proud graduate of Croton Harmon High School, he was recognized as an outstanding athlete in football, wrestling, and track and field. He attended SUNY Cobleskill and spent much of his career with Metro-North Railroad.

Russ was a devoted member and trustee of Asbury United Methodist Church, where he dedicated much of his time helping with various projects and contributing to the community. His faith and commitment to service were cornerstones of his life—it was within the church that he found peace.

Russ had a passion for gardening and landscaping and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was known for his sharp memory and loved talking about his family tree and cherished memories. He had a big heart and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Russ was predeceased by both of his parents. He is survived by his son, Zachary Schulze; his siblings, Ellen Karales (Joseph), Timothy Schulze (Noreen), Kenneth Schulze (Kelly), and Lauren Beeson (Julio), and his step-father, William Beeson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

A Service of Death and Resurrection will be held at Asbury United Methodist Church in Croton-on-Hudson on Thursday, March 27, at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Asbury United Methodist Church or to a charity of your choice in Russ’s memory.
