AND NOW MORE ON THE "NEW THOUGHT COLONY"

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton -- our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship -- in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

So one of the Everything Croton Elves is fascinated with what is known as The New Thought Colony, often associated with Ralph Waldo Trine, Dr. Julia Seton Sears (and others)--here in Croton and Mt. Airy--as well as the surrounding area known as Oscawana.....(and it was actually an international movement for a time). She recently came across a number of ads and quick bits for assorted "New Thought" doings and publications. Click on the images below (which also includes a few archived clippings on Trine).

FYI: Some info on Dr. Sears--Dr. Julia Seton Sears (1862–1950) was a fascinating figure in the realms of medicine, metaphysics, and spirituality. She was an American physician, lecturer, and author who played a pivotal role in popularizing the New Thought movement. This movement emphasized the power of positive thinking, spiritual growth, and the connection between mind and body. She was also known for her work in numerology, modernizing it into a system that gained widespread recognition. She founded the New Civilization Church in 1905, which aimed to integrate spiritual principles with practical living. Her teachings and writings, such as The Science of Success, explored themes of prosperity, health, and self-realization.
