OUR CONGRESSMAN MICHAEL LAWLER, TELE-TOWN HALL, HOW HE ANSWERED THE PUBLIC'S QUESTIONS, MEDICAID AND MORE

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

Mike Lawler (Congressman who handily beat Mondaire Jones in 2024) answered questions in 'tele-town hall': What he said on Medicaid, more--EXCERPTED--READ EVERYTHING AT THE LOHUD LINK BELOW--SOME HIGHIGHTS:

--The Rockland County Republican, holding a phone call with what he said were nearly 4,000 people listening in, took 11 questions over an hour, answering with long, detailed remarks on foreign policy, energy..... AND MORE

--With no political fireworks..............On Medicaid, the issue that has raised perhaps the most rancor, Lawler said he opposes cutting benefits for "those who need and rely on these vital programs." Then he ran through critiques that suggested he would support cutting Medicaid in ways that costs some enrollees their coverage, while preserving it for the neediest.

"There are changes that can be made and should be made to ensure that this program is protected for those who need it," he said. "Especially those in the IDD (intellectual and developmental disabilities) community, the working poor, single mothers, children. We want to make sure this program is protected for those who need it, and are eligible."
