Those following the long-running saga of climate scientist Michael Mann attempting to ruin NR through a frivolous lawsuit will know that we prevailed against Mann, and he was subsequently ordered to cough up more than $500K to us in legal fees. Absurdly, though, he won at trial against Rand Simberg and Mark Steyn; the jury ordered Simberg to pay a mere $1 in compensatory damages and $1,000 for punitive damages, while Steyn was hit with $1 in compensatory damages and a shocking $1 million in punitive. Just the other day, the punitive damages against Steyn were reduced to $5,000.
