Resident Outcry Forces Croton to Delay Abolishing Justice Court - March 8, 2022 Rick Pezzullo

Residents of Croton-on-Hudson came out in force last week to implore the Board of Trustees not to proceed with a plan to consolidate the village’s justice court services with the Town of Cortlandt as a potential cost savings measure.

The heavily criticized proposal was first presented to the Board of Trustees on Jan. 4 from Village Manager Bryan Healy as the village grapples with an estimated $1.6 million budget shortfall.

However, residents and town employees that packed the meeting room in the Croton Municipal Building Feb. 28 overwhelmingly maintained the village court, which handles approximately 2,000 cases annually, was not the place to try and save a few bucks.  MORE AT https://www.theexaminernews.com/resident-outcry-forces-croton-to-delay-abolishing-justice-court/

  1. As much as I'd like to keep the court, especially since we just spent a small fortune renovating the police department, I'd also like to be able to continue living here. With inflation at an all time high, gas prices going through the roof, and sorry guys, too much taxpayer subsidized housing about to be built here in the village, our fearless leaders may have left us with few options.

    1. Ken, it is a very small number, insignificant in fact compared to the spending that has transpired over the last 15 years

    2. Yeah I guess so. Wouldn't it be nice to have that two, three, whatever million, we spent on the absurd Croton Point Avenue project right now?
