MORE FABULOUS VINTAGE WEBSITES, FINDS, ETC. FROM EVERYTHING CROTON

As always, some wonderful finds, oldies but goodies and more. Click on the photos and links.

First up, a great boardwalk photo, this one circa 1895-1905, Rockaway Beach, New York - from the section known as The Bowery.

It's followed by a fab Ideal Roy Rogers "Fix it" Stagecoach toy from 1955--featured in a previous auction at Croton's own www.serioustoyz.com/  and from 1919, an ad for the "Buddy Doll Walker".

And finally a great die-cut vintage Halloween Black Cat from an amazing vintage Halloween die-cut collection, including Biestle "dancers", centerpieces etc., courtesy
of Brian; see the collection here.

THE LEGEND OF THE CHRISTMAS SPIDER OR THE ORIGINS OF TINSEL...

The Legend of the Christmas Spider is an Eastern European folktale which explains the origin of tinsel on Christmas trees.

It is most prevalent in Ukraine, where small ornaments in the shape of a spider are traditionally a part of the Christmas tree decorations.   The origins of the folk tale are unknown, but it is believed to have come from either Germany or Ukraine.  In Germany, Poland, and Ukraine, finding a spider or a spider's web on a Christmas tree is considered good luck.  READ MORE HERE.
