SOME FUN STUFF WE FOUND ABOUT FREQUENT CROTON VISITOR, JACKIE GLEASON

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.  (Don't forget to click on the photos and links.)

As many of you know, Jackie Gleason, was a Cortlandt resident, but frequent Croton visitor.  And so we love finding bits and pieces about him, especially things we never knew...like these little gems:

Let's start off with a 1950 newspaper ad for Gleason in a film we never heard of before--The DESERT HAWK.  And what a cast--Yvonne De Carlo, Richard Greene---Rock Hudson...And Gleason as Aladdin...(can you just imagine......). You can read about the film here

Next up----Did you know that Dean Martin and Jackie Gleason did a Christmas album released in 1973....called MERRY MUSIC CHRISTMAS!

And wow, there are quite a few interesting little numbers on this one.  One can imagine both of them having a high old time making it.

Read more about it here.  Martin is on the front cover; Gleason appears to be on the back.

And finally, Gleason enjoyed a prominent secondary music career during the 1950s and 1960s, producing a series of bestselling "mood music" albums. READ more about that here.

And speaking of Gleason's "mood music albums", there's this 1968 ad for...

THE SOUND OF ROMANCE FOR LOVERS ONLY

And a sweepstakes too.  Yes, you can win $1,000...CASH!

That's all for now but stay tuned.  Your editor and the Elves have unearthed some fun stuff.
