It's why the chef, who owns two fast casual Mexican spots with his wife Norma Cuenca — one in Sleepy Hollow and one in Yonkers — wanted to extend his reach with his third, more elevated restaurant La Catrina Mexican Restaurant in Croton-on-Hudson. The recently opened sit-down place, open since Feb. 12, is a reincarnation of an old one. What had been La Catrina of Westchester, a modern space that opened in 2022, has been reimagined (with a slight rename) under Carrillo.
