A REPORT FROM THE CROTON CARING COMITTEE ON THE 2021 STUFF THE TRUCK EVENT AT CROTON SHOPRITE - 9/11

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

FROM THE CROTON CARING COMMITTEE WEBSITE

On Saturday, September 11th, Croton Caring partnered with ShopRite of Croton to hold a Stuff the Truck Food Drive to support Croton Caring’s upcoming Fall Food Basket Program.  The event, held in ShopRite’s parking lot, was organized in conjunction with ShopRite’s Partners in Caring initiative and accepted food donation to help combat food insecurity in Croton.

In all, more than 2,000 food items were donated during this five our event. Everyone really came together and the outpouring of support was amazing! We were able to fill the truck more than three times, and the non-perishables collected will be a tremendous supplement to our Fall food baskets.

We owe ShopRite and its staff, the community and our wonderful volunteers a huge debt or gratitude for helping us stuff the truck. As with all of our Croton Caring’s programs, the generosity and support of the community was overwhelming.  Without their continued support, much of what we do would not be possible.

We also owe a special thank you to our Croton student volunteers – Lirit Deckelbaum, Samantha Sparling, Nicole Caguano, Shayna Caguano, Talia Neill, Rachel Cofsky and Madelyn Boglioli who graciously and enthusiastically gave up their Saturday and their help handing out flyers, greeting donors and sorting and packing the donations was invaluable.

Croton Caring’s Fall Food Baskets will be distributed throughout the community the weekend of September 18-19, 2021 and we will once again conduct our Thanksgiving and Winter Holiday Basket and Adopt-a-Family Programs in November and December, respectively.
