1965: GET SMART PREMIERED

On this date in 1965 TV comedy "Get Smart", created by Mel Brooks and starring Don Adams, premiered.

The American comedy television series parodied the secret agent genre that was popular in the United States in the late 1960s.  The program was created by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry. It starred Don Adams (who also worked as a director on the series) as agent Maxwell "Max" Smart, or Agent 86, Barbara Feldon as Agent 99, and Edward Platt as Thaddeus, the Chief. The show ended its five year run in 1970.  Read more about it here.
