CROTON RIVER LABOR DAY WEEKEND 2019 UPDATE

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools, our houses of worship--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

A CROTON RIVER LABOR DAY WEEKEND UPDATE 2019...as always, many thanks to the residents who continue to photograph, video, and remove garbage from this area.

--FECAL COLIFORM TEST RESULTS RELEASED BY VILLAGE AFTER INITIALLY STATING THAT RESIDENTS WOULD HAVE TO SUBMIT A FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST; more here

--ACCESS/PARKING AT THE CROTON RIVER "UNIQUE AREA" WAS CLOSED ON FRIDAY AND REMAINS CLOSED TODAY. The sign prompted some confusion as many people thought that the river itself had been closed to say, boaters, kayakers...which was and is not the case....

--SPEAKING OF KAYAKERS: MANY THANKS TO THE KAYAKERS AT THE CANOE LAUNCH AREA at the parking lot. It has been reported that they removed "25 contractor bags full...." Here is the rest of the report: "They said that when they went down there that day to the island at the Unique Area, they found a few bags full. Then... they decided to look on the Ossining side and were stunned by the amount of garbage hidden from site in huge low gully spots and behind rocks (not to be seen from shore). That is where the bulk of the 25 bags was collected from".

--Kayakers cleaning up Paradise Island have reported encountering "human waste".

--It has been reported that NYSDEC personnel were in the general area checking boats/kayaks to see if they had unknowingly dragged in "hydrilla".

--A NYSDEC letter is part of the 9/3 Board of Trustees meeting agenda. You can read the letter here

--Two cruisers down at Silver Lake area on Saturday. All quiet at Mayo's throughout the weekend thus far.
