It's
been great seeing all your vintage Christmas putz villages--and assorted
Christmas decorations---and looking at old photos too...Click on the images and links.
First up, a simple but effective display from David Montreal--a very early feather tree with fantastic early ornaments---many German--artfully arranged. It's followed by just a small portion of 2015's "Candyland putz village"--featuring a collection of vintage made in Japan cake picks, objects, deer, houses and more, permanently mounted to some found and re-purposed plaques...the wooden angels and pink and turquoise trees, however, are vintage made in West Germany.
Check out this a great publicity still from an old magazine for Bette Davis as Queen Elizabeth in The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex, a must-see film. She's followed by a 1927 catalog page for Christmas tree stands. Again, Click on the photos and enjoy.
By special request: Very pleased to provide a link to an outstanding collection of photos from Bill and Kathy all about the Barnes Museum in Southington, CT.--The Christmas scenes alone are worth the visit.
For those who don't know, Bill and Kathy say: The Barnes Museum, North Main Street, Southington CT. This was the home of Bradley Barnes and his wife, Leila. He inherited it from his grandparents, Amon and Sylvia Barnes Bradley, who had it built when they were married in 1836. It is Federal Period architecture with Greek Revival features, and was always in the same family. Read and see more here
