I first noticed an increase in vehicular traffic during COVID. This increase has continued unabated; in fact, as someone who’s worked & lived here quite a long time now, I can state with confidence that our streets have never been busier. Route 129, Maple Street, North & South Riverside Avenue serve as arterials from points north & east to/from the largest Metro-North station in the system.
So, what are we doing to captivate this audience?
Not nearly enough, IMneverHO.
Whether we admit it or not; we, for the foreseeable future are, and will remain an ‘automobile culture’.
So what to do? Embrace them. Accomodate them. Captivate them. Let’s promote the streets they frequent as centers of commerce.
-start with ample, convenient parking.
-rezone our gateways & (formerly) commercial districts to encourage food, beverage, and retail. (Right now, all our districts have been zoned to accommodate multi-family, residential-only development; a death-knell for small-town quality of life.)

Let’s grow our village’s tax base in low-impact ways. Let’s seek out the unique (co-working facilities), and the basics (hardware store, general store.)
It’s never too late.
