WHAT THIS CROTON FAMILY DID DURING SNOW-POCALYPSE 2026
One of our readers said the family enjoyed a day of old movies and vintage board games....in-between half-hearted attempts at snow removal. One of these was THE SCARLET AND THE BLACK starring Gregory Peck and Christopher Plummer; read more about that here. Sunday mass had been the day before at the 5pm service. Of course there was also IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY AND A REPEAT SHOWING OF THE BISHOP'S WIFE with Cary Grant as Dudley the Angel.
Mom and son had a bonding moment making salami roses for the afternoon charcuterie board. They actually turned out quite good. (See how here). The daughter went backyard birding with Dad and made the whipped cream for the hot chocolate afterwards---the first time she was allowed to use the electric beater--albeit with supervision. (Marginal mess but Bounty to the rescue).
Everyone had a high time playing Candyland (click on the photo) and watching Dad do tricks with his vintage Duncan Yo-yo---purchased at the Pop Berger's of course. (See more here.) (Yes, there was some typical kid "eye-rolling"---they're not saints after all..)
Dad lamented the fact that there were no longer such places to discover the joys of making a balsa wood glider. There was a big bowl of popcorn and Cheetos too.
Screentime was allowed only later in the afternoon. This is one family that watches how much of that there is religiously.
All and all there were hardly any cries of "I'm bored, there's nothing to do".
Sounds like a good day.
