ABOUT THOSE MASKS, TIME TO FACE THE FACTS, COMPLETE WITH GRAPH & REQUIRED READING

FROM THE GREAT JOHN TIERNEY

The pandemic has eased, but not the compulsion of many Americans to cover their faces. Fully vaccinated adults are still wearing masks on their solitary walks outdoors, and officials have been enforcing mask mandates on some city-dwellers and students. After obligating passengers to wear masks for nearly two years, some airlines and railroads have finally dropped their requirements in response to Monday’s ruling by US District Judge Kathryn Kimball Mizelle declaring the Biden administration’s mask mandate for public transportation unlawful. It’s welcome news, though long overdue.

A simple remedy might help some maskaholics. It’s a graph that should be required viewing for everyone still wearing a mask and every public official and journalist who still insists that mask mandates “control the spread.” READ MORE AT https://nypost.com/2022/04/19/feel-free-to-fly-maskless-breathe-easier-already/

  1. Haven't worn one except once to get some blood work drawn. Any place that required one just didn't get my money. I drive everywhere I need to be or walk. If a store insists on a mask and I can get it delivered or online, that's what I do. When local restaurants wanted masks, we went out of town to places that didn't. It's not fair. It's not nice. But it's my money and I don't pay someone to not be able to breathe or wear lipstick.

    1. I struggled with this. We normally fly to see family. Instead we drove which cut into how long we could see family, but so be it. We wanted to help local restaurants but we were not subjecting ourselves to the bizarre rule that said masks when you come in, no masks when you are a table, or watching people at another table moving their masks up and down to take bits of food or dink. That was disgusting and ridiculous. So we tried to do take out to help those businesses when we could. That did not happen very much because honestly, we like to go out. We just went to Connecticut and made a trip of it. We had an "enlightened" doctor who only asked for a mask in the waiting room, then when you were out of sight. We had a hair dresser come to the house to do maskless hair cuts. (After all, if the governor could get his hair cut.) We did have a few incidents with nosy neighbors who were monitored how much company we had. My husband put a stop to that quick.

  2. We too do as little as possible that requires masks and take our trade elsewhere when places still require them. Done. We don't pay good money to be bothered.
