A LOOK BACK @ CROTON'S WINKLER'S APPLIANCES A.K.A. WINKLER'S APPLIANCE CENTER

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

As many of you know, there will be a 9/20 opening reception for THE CROTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY's new exhibit -- GET READY FOR AN EARTHQUAKE, THE CONSTRUCTION OF NEW US ROUTE 9, THE DESTRUCTION OF CROTON LANDING. You can get all the details here http://www.everythingcroton.blogspot.com/2015/09/croton-historical-society-opening.html

There's been quite a bit of discussion about the businesses that were lost or displaced--one of these being Winkler's Appliances--and one of the elves dug up some old ads you may enjoy. She also zoomed in for a close-up. Click on the photos below.

And since the "new" television sets are also mentioned, you may enjoy the Philco TV catalog from 1958 http://everythingcroton.blogspot.com/2015/08/a-look-back-at-philco-television-sets.html

  1. My mother got her first washing machine at Winkler's. It lasted for years and was pink. She had to wait an extra month for that color but wanted everything in the laundry room to match!
