JOURNAL NEWS SEPT. 1ST 2015 ARTICLE ON THE CROTON TOUGHMAN, WITH IMPORTANT LINKS, PHOTOS ETC.

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

JOURNAL NEWS SEPT. 1ST ARTICLE ON THE TOUGHMAN, HIGHLIGHTS ONLY. SOLUTION DEMANDED FOR CROTON TRIATHLON
--Locals demand traffic solution; Toughman's Dr. Izzo declined to comment.
--This year's potential traffic nightmare already has local residents pumping fists instead of iron.  They've taken their concerns before the village board — but to no avail.
--Mayor Wiegman says:  “My position is because those decisions are out of our hand, we need to work with the race as best we can so that our police department knows what the detours are and how to direct people,” Wiegman said. (EDITOR'S NOTE; Mayor's 2010 and 2011 proclamations are here http://bit.ly/1VdjMnq - we are "truly blessed" to have The Toughman; it's "the capstone" to our Bike Week, our village "enthusiastically embraces" nature, self improvement etc. that is embodied in the Toughman etc. Also note, Mayor Wiegman has also publicly touted the alleged economic benefits to Croton in multiple forums.)
--“This is a dangerous, disruptive event,” (Dick) Nagle said. “It disrupts lives of so many people who are not involved in the race.”

AND A HANDY GUIDE TO GETTING AROUND ON 9/13 WITH THANKS TO DICK NAGLE http://everythingcroton.blogspot.com/2015/08/toughman-update-2015-guide-to.html

FYI: SEPT. 2014 MR. NAGLE'S COMMENT AT BOARD MEETING - What I fail to understand is how our Mayor and Board of Trustees could so easily be taken in by Dr. Izzo’s claims that this event is somehow good for Croton. I see absolutely no benefit in it at all for the citizens and businesses of our village. http://www.everythingcroton.blogspot.com/2014/09/dick-nagles-92-statement-b4-board-on.html

ALSO PLS. NOTE:  According to the 7/23 through 7/29/15 edition of THE GAZETTE, the board of trustees continued to "reaffirm" their belief that hosting this event is positive for the village economically and for its image.

  1. How sad that it has had to come to this to get this board's attention. I'll be visiting my sister and doing my food shopping at the A&P in Cortlandt.

  3. In my humble opinion, what a difference an election year makes. Everyone else is to blame!

  4. Thank God we didn't sign that 5 year contract. My thanks to Mr. Nagle and someone from Ossining who put an end to that at the village board meeting a few weeks ago. Now let's get the DOT on board and make some changes if this thing is to go on.

    1. From your lips to God's ears. I'd like this to be the last year for a lot of other things too.

  6. I cannot afford to go a day without pay so I will be camping out in a neighbor's yard the day before so I can get to work. That's ridiculous.
