FROM THE EVERYTHING CROTON MAILBOX: A MESSAGE FROM RICHARD ZUMBACH....
But...before we begin--and because it cannot be said enough--a VERY BIG EVERYTHING CROTON SHOUT-OUT to the volunteers of The Croton Village Garden Club. Your work this year has been nothing short of OUTSTANDING--thank you for your service in making those neglected village properties really come back to life!
AND NOW A WORD FROM RICHARD ZUMBACH:
Garden
Club, I trust everyone has had a great summer and that all your gardens
have been enjoyable, fruitful and beautiful. I know I’ve mentioned in prior
emails the new garden on Van Wyck Street, and the completion of the Croton
Landing flagpole garden that club members worked on earlier in the summer. The
Sunset Park garden was also replanted a number of weeks ago thanks to the
efforts of Susan Mislove Donnelly and Molly Lemeris. It needed replanting
because a very bad winter killed many of the plants that where planted last
year. It looks great again and significantly adds to the beauty of that area of
the village. (Click on the photo.)

is a date to put on your calendar, Daffodil Day…October 17 at the Duck
Pond--Editor's Note, click on the link http://bit.ly/1KfSA2x
As has been organized since 2001 to remember 9/11, the CCAC
sponsors this get together to plant daffodils. This year it will be at
the Duck Pond Park. Come and be part of the event, or as garden club members
have done in the past, pick up an amount of daffodil bulbs that you
would like to plant somewhere in the village. The location is up to you. After
all these years the Village looks great in the spring, and it will look even
better with some new plantings. It’s up to you!! And I know that lots of people
appreciate our effort when the daffodils make Croton beautiful in the spring.
THIS MONTH'S MEETING HAS BEEN CANCELLED. We still have the support of the village and funds available, so if you have some garden or planting ideas for the coming planting season, let me know by email and we will make it happen. Our next meeting will be the third thursday in October at the library. See you then….… Making Croton beautiful, one garden at a time. rdzumbach@yahoo.com

Love the flagpole.
ReplyDeleteSo grateful for the volunteers who do this. Without them all you'd see is weed patches for the most part. Thank you guys for your service. J
