MORE FABULOUS VINTAGE WEBSITES, FINDS, ETC. FROM EVERYTHING CROTON

Some wonderful finds--first up courtesy of ScottG--when plastic was new and exciting! Scott says: Santa Reindeer Vinylite by Raylite Electric Products,  1950s, Large Version 1--Made of Vinylite plastic and a metal back. Measures about 33" wide by 20" tall by 3.5" deep. Over time the vinylite gets brittle. But for 60 plus years this is in good condition.There are a few cracks around the edges. It needs to be re-wired before lighting it--from the early 1950's. 

That's followed by this year's "French putz" a.k.a. the Marie Antoinette putz village from you know who, smile....vintage and handmade ornaments; blue castle by Karl Fey, a copy of one from the 1930's but in custom colors.

The cathedral is illuminated by LED's and is by Howard Lamey. 

The "French" figures are vintage made in Japan, the gold frames are vintage Limoges; the ship is a pillbox; the lamppost was an after-Christmas purchase at Walmart. 

And all this is followed by David Montreal's Christmas village, close-up; all vintage/antique; clay faced Santa and putz houses made in Japan; sheep and horses are undoubtedly German or American made and very early...

New from our friends at European Film Star Postcards: Lucy Doraine - click on the photo....

In spite of her French name, Lucy Doraine (1898-1989) was a Hungarian actress and a major star of the Austrian and German cinema in the 1920s. When she moved to Hollywood, the revolution of the sound film finished her career.

After the fall of Bela Kun’s Republic and because of the turmoils of 1918-1919, Mihaly and Ilonka Kertesz fled Hungary and took up refuge in Vienna. There they both got a contract by count Kolowrat, the owner of Sascha Film.

REMEMBERING JOHN PAYNE...

Who died this date in 1989...John Howard Payne was an American film actor who is mainly remembered from film noir crime stories and 20th Century Fox musical films, and for his leading roles in Miracle on 34th Street and the NBC Western television series The Restless Gun.

YUKA'S LATIN FUSION--LUNCH--DINNER--LOUNGE

THE EXAMINER NEWS Cortlandt resident Claudia Villeda and Peekskill resident Mike Guerra have given local residents a new place to sample Latin cuisine.  The co-owners opened Yuka’s Latin Fusion in Croton. Villeda said last week the restaurant was named after yucca, which is a root vegetable that tastes like a potato.
