This will really put a chip on New York bar owners’ shoulders.  Gov. Andrew Cuomo has made it even harder for cash-strapped watering holes and restaurants to churn back to life — by declaring a bag of chips is no longer enough to comply with the requirement they serve food with booze.

His State Liquor Authority reversed course with that revised edict posted late Tuesday night, which requires they sell more substantial food with alcoholic drinks to be in compliance with the recent executive order.  READ MORE here

Silver Lake 2021 Plans--The Recreation Department is planning to open Silver Lake for Village residents only on June 26. As with last year, the limitation of Silver Lake to Village residents only is to ensure adequate social distancing for patrons. The exact regulations regarding available time slots and reservations will be announced later this month once guidance is received from New York State.

Please note that, unlike last year, there is no requirement for vehicles parking at Silver Lake to have a resident parking sticker at this time. What Lacey does not like however, is getting her nails clipped.....so in-between clippings during vet check-ups (we love Dr. Cynthia and Dr. Janis at Croton Veterinary Clinic 271-5442)--Lacey has been going to Croton's Pampered Pets for her regular manicures since 2017. They're super skilled at clipping nails on a pup that requires "special handing".

Who died this date in 1983....one of the most influential blues musicians of all time. His impact extends to blues, rhythm and blues, rock 'n' roll, hard rock, folk, jazz, and country.

REMEMBERING GIA SCALA

Who died this date in 1971....and now....from our friends at European Film Star Postcards...a wonderful post on Gia Scala....

Gia Scala (1934-1972) was a beautiful, sensitive Italian-American actress and model. Despite roles in such classics as The Guns of Navarone (1961), she never reached her full potential in Hollywood. Later, she also worked in Italy. 

The circumstances of Scala's death at 36 by an overdose, have been questioned.

Another night of great training tonight thanks to the generosity of local building owners.  Members of the CFD were back at the former Bestweb / hardware store on South Riverside working on our firefighting skills. Joining us tonight was a group of Millwood firefighters that worked with our crews on their search, forcible entry and firefighting hose uses. Millwood has graciously allowed us to use their training center for several years, so this was a small way for us to pay them back. We’ll be back on Thursday night and again this weekend before the building is demolished next week.

Trigger alert--disturbing video, language and photos.... Protesters clashed with police in Manhattan on Thursday night after a monument was vandalized by cop-haters in Central Park. We have been informed by Kathleen Reddy-Guidry, that she has withdrawn her candidacy for a seat on the Croton-Harmon Union Free School District Board of Education. 

In accordance with Section 2018(d) of the Education Law, the time period for the submission of nominating petitions for candidates for the Board of Education has been reopened and extended. Nominating petitions for candidates for the Board of Education will now be accepted until May 11, 2021 at 5:00PM in the Office of the District Clerk.  Nominating Petitions can be found here.

Please note:  Absentee ballots which include Kathleen Reddy-Guidry's name have already been mailed to some voters.

If you have already returned your absentee ballot: You may request a new absentee ballot. 

If any new candidates are included on the ballot after the conclusion of the extended time period for the submission of nominating petitions, a revised absentee ballot will be sent to all eligible voters who requested an absentee ballot.

THE CDC'S REIGN OF ERROR---For 14 months, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended draconian restrictions on Americans’ daily lives to combat the spread of COVID-19. The CDC disregarded the psychological hardships and economic losses the restrictions inflicted. Now the evidence is emerging that the restrictions were based on flimsy science or sheer guesswork.      

Last week, MIT researchers showed that the CDC’s six-foot social-distancing rule has no basis in science. If you’re indoors, your risk is the same, whether an infected person is 3 feet away from you, 6 feet away, or even 60 feet away.

Wells novel about time travel, Wells (Rod Taylor) travels 800,000 years into the future and falls for Weena (Mimieux) of the peaceful Eloi who are threatened by the Morlocks, cannibalistic mutations. FROM TOYS AND STUFF: TRAIN TIME: The Edge of Town (EoT) Dept. of Public Works Makes a New Grade Crossing....

I think for the most part we all do it. Do what? Well, we build a train board, lay track, plop down buildings in the middle and call it a day. Somewhere along the way we may add a bit of scenery and a single grade crossing with a road going off the board to the fantasy world beyond.
