THE GAZETTE 4/1/2021 EDITION, IAN MURTAUGH, VILLAGE BUDGET ISSUES, ETC. ETC. ETC.

Welcome to Everything Croton, a collection of all things Croton--our history, our homes, our issues, our businesses, our schools--in short, EVERYTHING CROTON.

YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO READ THE ARTICLE IN THE 4/1/2021 EDITION OF THE GAZETTE which goes into detail about the  village board once again selecting former trustee Ian Murtaugh to fill the seat vacated by Trustee John Habib, who recently died while vacationing in Jamaica.  The article goes into detail about the tax-cap braking increase that village residents are facing.  Click on the image for just a small portion. THE GAZETTE IS ON SALE JUST ABOUT EVERYWHERE.

ALSO FYI: To the residents who continue to opine on social media that the Katz property will be paying "significant village and school taxes", PLEASE spend less time on social media.  The property is slated to be low income/affordable, it is now potentially one-third three bedrooms, the developer will have decades of tax breaks, a possible PILOT, and apartments CANNOT be reserved for Croton residents.  All this is documented in recent Gazette articles, assorted board minutes, etc.

  1. Brilliant village administration. Set up three bedroom affordable units on a PILOT tax plan (Payment in Lieu of Taxes) which don't even come close to covering the tax burden they will place on school expenses; spend millions on a Croton Point Ave project that no reasonable person thinks will improve anything; and waste tens of thousands of dollars on a park (Gouveia) that almost no one goes to. I don't want to hear any democrat who voted for this business ignorant mayor complain about high taxes in Croton. You've brought it on yourselves.
