ON THE PROPOSED RE-ZONING FOR HOUSING: A GAZETTE LETTER FROM CAROLYN WHITING

The following letter appears in the 11/7/19 edition of The Gazette.

To the Editor,

In reference to the proposed zoning changes to allow additional housing / apartments in our gateway at North Riverside and Municipal Place:  The recent Village wide survey showed an overwhelming majority of 67.98% of residents do not want additional housing development in our gateway.

Thankfully the board knows better than the rubes, aka residents. In their infinite wisdom, the board is moving forward with examining zoning changes to allow apartments on the wooded vacant lot known as the Katz property and the additional apartment development of North Riverside.

The residents are clearly too stupid to understand what is best for us and for our own good we need the board to ignore our wishes. Thankfully, our betters are up to the task.

Whew!  Imagine if we determined our own destiny?  I shudder at the thought.

Sincerely,

Carolyn Whiting

  1. Yes!The 67.98% are deplorable. Where have we heard the term "deplorable" before?
