IN THE NEWS: ROBERT FREEMAN, COMMITTEE ON OPEN GOVERNMENT, LOHUD

LOHUD: ALBANY – New York officials were warned of inappropriate conduct by the state's foremost open-government expert four times over nearly two decades before he was fired in July for sexually harassing a female reporter, according to a state investigation.  A report Thursday from Inspector General Letizia Tagliafierro found Robert Freeman, who led the state Committee on Open Government since 1976, had "habitually engaged in sexual harassment of multiple women over many years."  He also misused public resources — including viewing scantily clad images of women on his state-issued computer and exchanging sexually provocative emails with a college student — during his long tenure as a state employee, the report found....The report Thursday found state officials had been warned four previous times about Freeman's inappropriate conduct dating back 16 years, resulting only in a verbal warning in 2003 and a 2013 counseling memo that ordered him to attend additional sexual-harassment training.  READ THE VERY LENGTHY ARTICLE AND LEGAL DOCUMENTS AT https://www.lohud.com/story/news/2019/11/14/new-york-open-government-expert-robert-freeman-sexual-harassment-report/4190172002/
